Recently in class, we have been studying characterization. Using the definition we have of characterization, compare and contrast the characters of Rainsford and Zaroff. Be sure to support your characterization of these two characters with support from the text.
For example, if you state that Rainsford has a lot of knowledge on hunting. You need to provide evidence from the text like: on p. 40, Zaroff mentions that he has read all of Rainsford’s books on hunting. This would indicate that Rainsford has a lot of knowledge on the topic of hunting since he was able to write multiple books on the subject. (This one is mine, so you can’t use it.)
You should have at least two paragraphs, of no fewer than 5 sentences. Also, this week, you need to post a comment on someone else’s blog.
This is due by 3pm on Friday, October 7.
I believe that Rainsford has a great memory compared to Zaroff. I think this because during the time when Zaroff was hunting Rainsford,Rainsford was able to remember all of his previous hunts, for example as Rainsford was being chased he remembered his time hunting the fox, which used multiple trails to confuse it predator.
ReplyDeleteI believe Zaroff is a adventurous person. When Rainsford first meets Zaroff he tells about his many hunting trips that he has went on. Another reason is that in Zaroff's dining room there are many animal head that are hung on and around the walls.
Zaroff and Rainsford have a few similarities. They are both expert hunters. Rainsford hunts game animals and writes books about them. Zaroff was so good that he got bored with hunting. Also, they are both very resourceful. Rainsford uses the environment to set traps. Zaroff uses the rocks to wreck ships on his island.

ReplyDeletethere are some differences between zarof and reinsford though. One is that zarof is hunting people and is very mean and has weird personality. Reinsford hunts animals and is alot nicer.
There are many ways Zarrof and Rainsford are different.
ReplyDeleteRainsford is characterized as a protagonist, because he hunts animals for sport instead of humans. Rainsford is also cunning because of his knowledge of traps. He also is brave, because he didn't lose control when Zaroff told Rainsford he would be hunting him. Another reason he is brave is because he dove off of the cliff to escape general Zaroff. Rainsford is also vengeful, as he kills Zaroff after Zaroff tries to kill him.
Zaroff is characterized as an antagonist, because he hunts humans just because of his own boredom. He is also a skilled hunter because he hadn't lost his game to anyone besides Rainsford before. He is also vigilant because he was able to see Rainsford's complicated series of trails even in pitch black night. Another trait of Zaroff is that he is cruel, not only because he mercilessly kills people, but also because he is not torn at all by the loss of his friend Ivan. Zaroff is also a very passionate person, in his love for hunting all sorts of things, as he has killed one of nearly every animal in existence.
@harrison Average job, though I think you could use a few more words. If you'll recall the original post, "You should have at least two paragraphs, of no fewer than 5 sentences.". Other than that, I think you had a very good view on both of their personalities. Oh and don't forget, "Also, this week, you need to post a comment on someone else’s blog.". Perhaps mine?

ReplyDeleteI think that Zaroff is very mean because he likes to hunt humans. At first he was nice because he was hunting animals but he got bored of hunting animals because he was so skilled at it. Rainsford on the other hand is nice because he did not want to hunt Zaroff but it was for his own good so he did not get killed.
I think that Zaroff and Rainsford are more similar than they are different. They are both very smart because they made really good strategies while hunting each other. For instance when Rainsford was hunting Zaroff he made traps then Zaroff went into 1. The other trap killed one of Zaroff's dog. They are both very skilled at hunting. Zaroff is so good at hunting that he had to start hunting humans and Rainsford is so good that he beat Zaroff in his own hunting game!
Rainsford and Zaroff have many similarities and differences. Although I think that Rainsford can outsmart rainsford because he made those traps while they were hunting each other ans Zaroff got into them.

ReplyDeleteI think that you should have used more details from the book. Also next time make you paragraphs longer and more of them. But other than that you started to tell good details.
Zaroff and Rainsford are alike and different in many ways. for example they both love hunting, and are gifted hunters, and extreemly good at tracking.
